It is worth mentioning that in South Asia, the mBillionth Award honours innovation towards making life easier for people by using mobile technology. It was started in 2010, and the award was given for the 12th time.
‘NICler App’
Assessment of the learning process in the classroom is very essential to know about the child’s progress but this assessment is a very time-consuming process. Sometimes teachers need to talk to every child of their class to carefully assess the student’s progress. Sometimes teachers need to collect a copy of the children and check them in the house. Nowadays parents are also aware of their children’s studies, so there is a lot of caution while checking the copy.
This technology is used to ease the work of teachers. In Chhattisgarh, the School Education Department and NIC have also developed the ‘NICler App’ by doing long research to ease the assessment-related work of teachers.
For using this app, first it needed to be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Based on the UDISE number allotted to the school, the students have to download the QR code card from the portal and paste it into a booklet. In this way, a unique card has to be given to each student with his name. It should not be interchanged and remain with him throughout the session.
If any teacher wants to ask a question after teaching any topic, they can choose any available questions related to that lesson in the Nickelr app or they can prepare questions on their own. There should be four options for the question asked. Kids need to be taught how to hold the card based on the correct option.
This app can be used to take attendance of students. They can also ask questions by making the audio of various questions through this app. If any teacher faces a problem during the use of this app, then technically sound teacher among teachers can help them by making solution videos which makes it easier to implement in the classroom.
For providing holistic education through this app, consistent support has been provided to this app. In the current year, all schools have been provided with an Internet facility. Teachers have also been trained to use this app effectively.
