Rs 18,266 crore paid to 20.81 lakh farmers, 65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy lifted for custom milling.
According to the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the paddy procurement campaign is going on in full swing in Chhattisgarh.
This campaign will run till 31 January 2023. Officials of the Food Department informed that under the paddy procurement campaign,89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from the farmers on the support price in the state so far.
In lieu of the paddy purchase, Rs 18,266 crore has been paid to 20.81 lakh farmers of the state under the bank linking system.
On the initiative of the Chief Minister, like last year, paddy procurement is going on continuously this year and paddy is being procured for custom milling as well.
Till now DO has been issued for the procurement of about 77 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, against which 65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted by the millers.
Officials informed that on January 09, 1.90 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from more than 46 thousand farmers.
Apart from this, about 14 thousand tonnes of paddy has also been purchased from the farmers through tokens obtained online.
More than 53,000 tokens have been issued for paddy purchase for the next day and about 5,000 tokens have been issued online through “Token Tunhar Haath App”.
It is noteworthy that this year 25.92 lakh farmers have been registered in the state, in which about 2.26 lakh new farmers are included. 2616 procurement centers have been set up for paddy purchase in the state.
Normal paddy is being bought at the rate of Rs 2040 per quintal and grade-A paddy at Rs 2060 per quintal.
Moreover, a strict vigil is being kept on the system of paddy procurement in the state.
Goods carriers are being continuously checked at check posts to prevent illegal transportation of paddy from border states.
