An amount of Rs 5878.37 Crore has been transferred to bank accounts of 70 lakh women of the state
on her two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, President Smt. Draupadi Murmu transferred the 9th installment of Mahtari Vandan Yojana of Chhattisgarh Government in a program organized at Purkhauti Muktangan, on Friday.
Under this scheme, a total amount of Rs 651.37 crore was transferred online to the bank accounts of 69.68 lakh beneficiary women of the state at the rate of Rs 1000 each before Diwali. Under the scheme, a total financial assistance of Rs 5878.37 crore has been transferred to the women of the state so far.
On this occasion, Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Shri Tokhan Sahu, Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Food Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma, Lok Sabha constituency Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal, MLA Shri Khuswant Saheb and Shri Rohit Sahu were present.
On this occasion, President Smt. Murmu discussed the benefits of this scheme with the beneficiaries of Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Smt Mamta Kashyap and Smt Satyavati Dhruv. About 120 women in traditional attire from various districts of the state like Raipur, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Bastar and Surguja had come to participate in this program of distribution of funds under Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
During the event, beneficiaries including Smt Mamta Kashyap and Smt Satyavati Dhruv told President Smt. Murmu that with the money received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, they used it to buy ration for their children and in buying necessary items of their need. President Smt. Murmu encouraged them to take advantage of the help received from the government and educate their children well and make them officers. She said that only when the children study, the family and society will progress.
It is worth noting that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana of the Chhattisgarh government was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on March 1, 2024, which aims to promote health, nutrition, economic self-reliance and empowerment of women. Under this, eligible married women above the age of 21 years are provided monthly financial assistance of RS 1000.
Mamta was overwhelmed by interacting with the President
Sharing her experience on the event, one of the beneficiary – a Tribal woman from Bastar Mamta Kashyap said, “Talking to President Smt. Draupadi Murmu is one of the most precious moments of her life. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to talk to the First Lady of the country.” She said that Mahtari Vandan Yojana gives her a feeling of financial security. Every month she waits for the notification on her mobile. This time, with the money she will buy clothes and sweets for the children on Diwali. Her son studies in class IX and she will use this amount to pay his tuition fees and there are a total of five people in her family. The family owes two acres of land and survives by warning daily wages. In such a situation, getting monthly Rs 1000 from Mahtari Vandan Yojana is very pleasant and relieving. She thanked the Chhattisgarh government for providing financial help to women through Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Principal Secretary Tribal Welfare Department Sonmoni Borah Principal Secretary Culture Anbalagan P, Secretary to Chief Minister P Dayanand, Commissioner Tribal Development Narendra Dugga, Director Archeology and Culture Vivek Acharya were also present in the program.
