Cybersecurity and Water Conservation Awareness Workshop held at Raigarh
A workshop focusing on cyber awareness and water conservation was held at the Municipal Corporation Auditorium Raigarh on Thursday, where judicial, legislative, and executive representatives came together to raise awareness about these two major social issues of concern.
Supreme Court Justice Prashant Mishra was the chief guest, while Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary attended as a special guest.
The workshop focused on spreading awareness of cyber security and water conservation through detailed presentations. This event was organized by the District Legal Services Authority and District and Police Administration.
District and Sessions Judge Raigarh Jitendra Kumar Jain, Collector Kartikeya Goyal, Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, judges of the district court, officials from the district and police administration, members of the bar association and civil societies were present.
Justice Prashant Mishra emphasized the critical importance of cyber awareness and water conservation in today’s world. He stated that awareness of cybercrimes is vital for prevention, urging attendees to stay informed about technological developments.
He recounted incidents of fraud where cybercriminals impersonated judicial officials, underscoring the need for vigilance. He also highlighted that water conservation requires active participation from all citizens to create a sustainable environment.
It’s the need of the hour to implement water conservation and cyber security measures, he added. He commended the efforts of local authorities in raising awareness and encouraged more individuals to engage with these initiatives.
Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary pointed out the alarming rise in cybercrimes and stressed the need for increased public vigilance. He mentioned that cyber fraud often results in greater financial losses compared to traditional crimes and urged citizens to educate themselves and their families about preventive measures. Choudhary praised the district’s water conservation efforts, emphasizing the need to preserve groundwater and protect the environment.
He mentioned government efforts in Naya Raipur to plant trees through the “Peeple for People” campaign and similar initiatives in Raigarh.
He stressed that our culture values nature, and we must work together for water conservation. He also shared that the government is actively working on managing fly ash and ESP in environmental conservation efforts.
Collector Kartikeya Goyal reinforced that awareness of cybersecurity and water conservation is essential for all citizens.
Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel concluded the event by expressing gratitude and highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to achieve these social goals.
He also mentioned the series of events being held across the district under the cyber awareness pakhwada initiative which is going on from 5th to 19 October.
Public Participation Key to Water Conservation Success
During the program, CEO of the District Panchayat, Jitendra Yadav, detailed ongoing efforts to engage the community in water conservation.
He reported the establishment of over ten thousand soak pits and the planting of fifty thousand peepal trees to enhance water management.
The initiative aims to empower women in conservation efforts and involves significant community participation in cleanliness and environmental protection. Yadav emphasized that collective action is necessary to ensure sustainable water resources for future generations.
Raising awareness through Cyber Subah drive
SP Divyang Patel mentioned that Raigarh police have launched a special drive, Cyber Subah, to raise awareness against cyber crimes. Every day, some information on new ways of cyber fraud and their preventive measures is being shared through WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social media platforms, he said.

DSP Cyber, Abhinav Upadhyay, provided insights into cybercrime prevention during his presentation. He highlighted that awareness is the first line of defense against such crimes and described various scams, including fake online trading, social media profile cloning, call forwarding, sextortion, OTP fraud, and free movie or ticket scams, as well as ATM skimming.
He urged individuals to exercise caution online, always lock their social media profiles, and utilize two-step verification to enhance security.
