Honored for excellent performance in community tourism model and adventure tourism
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated for the national award
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Chhattisgarh has been honored by the Government of India on Friday for doing exemplary work in the field of tourism. Chitrakot and Dhudmaras villages of Bastar have been honored with special honor in the Best Tourism Village Competition 2024 organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
This award was presented by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a grand ceremony organized at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Chitrakot has been given this honor for community tourism model and Dhudmaras for excellent performance in adventure tourism.
On this occasion, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the people of Chitrakot and Dhudmaras villages and the team of Tourism Department. Sahri Sai said, “This honor will strengthen our commitment to establish Chhattisgarh as a major tourist destination and this achievement will give further impetus to tourism industry of the state.” For this, efforts are being made to promote wellness tourism, adventure tourism and cultural heritage in the state, he added.
Anbalagan P, Secretary, Chhattisgarh Tourism Department, Vivek Acharya, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, and Ganvir Dhammshil, Director, Jungle Safari and Zoo Raipur were present to receive this award given by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Along with officials a team of nature enthusiast and outdoor advocates were also present to receive the award, which includes Mr Jeet Singh Arya, Founder of Unexplored Bastar and representatives of the local community including Dhudmaras based Mr Mansing Baghel, Mr Sonadhar Baghel and Chirtrakot based Mr Khageshwar Maurya and Mr Sukaman Kashyap were also present to receive this honor. With this honor, tourism of Chhattisgarh state will get a new direction, and it will strengthen the identity of the state at the national and international level.
It is essential to recognize the role of local community, which has contributed significantly in promoting tourism at both these places. Dhudmaras village attracts tourists for its thrilling adventure activities, while Chitrakote waterfall is world famous for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. This honour has given even more recognition to these two tourist destinations.
