Horticulture department provides free saplings to 45 Dantewada women for flower cultivation on 4 acres
Aiming to encourage women in remote forest areas towards flower cultivation and provide employment opportunities, the Horticulture Department is offering free saplings to women self-help groups.
A total of 45 women from the self-help groups in Dantewada district are cultivating flowers on an area of 4 acres.
With support from the District Administration and the Bihan scheme, the Horticulture Department has provided flower cultivation training to members of the women self-help group in the district.
This training was conducted for women of villages Tudparas, Bhogam, and Bhairamband. After the flowers are produced, the women self-help groups will create garlands and bouquets, which they will sell at the courtyard of Maa Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada.
Under the guidance of Shri Ajit Shasni, Horticulture Department, Dantewada and CSIR National Botanical Research Institute Lucknow Director, over 60,000 saplings of various types of flowers have been distributed to the SHGs.
