Chhattisgarhiya Olympics has been organized in the state with the initiative of Chief Minister Baghel to promote traditional sports that have been played by the general public of the state for numerous years.
The ongoing Chhattisgarhiya Olympics is witnessing great enthusiasm from the general public across the state.
The involvement of Children, youth,women to the elderly in the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics has proved that age is no bar to indulge in sports.
The elderly, reminiscing their childhood games have also shown great interest in participating in the Chhattisgariya Olympics.
One such example is Mrs. Asho Bai, a 65 year old woman hailing from Hardi Gram Panchayat of Raipur division, who was declared the winner of fugdi for the above 40 years of age category.
It is noteworthy that despite her being 65 years of age, she played fugdi for 1 hour 31 minutes 58 seconds. Even after being declared the winner, Asho Bai’s fugdi steps did not stop.
Sahin Bai from Pali development block of Korba district under Bilaspur division also gave a tough fight to Asho Bai while showing great spirit for 01 hour 31 minutes 53 seconds, while Gangavati Pradhan of Bastar division got the third position.
Despite the age of these women, their enthusiasm was evident in the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics state-level fugdi competition. Mrs. Asho Bai has expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for organizing the Chhattisgarh Olympics and giving her a platform to showcase her skills.
