Gauri Poornima & Holi Celebrations at Hare Krishna moment, Bhilai…

On March 3, 2026, the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra Mandir of the Hare Krishna Movement hosted the grand celebrations of Gaura Purnima and Holi Mahotsav.

Gaura Purnima marks the auspicious appearance day of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, also known as Gauranga due to His golden complexion, who initiated the Sankirtana movement over 540 years ago.

This day also signifies the beginning of the New Year for Gaudiya Vaishnavas, and devotees observe a day-long fast until moonrise in reverence.

The evening celebrations commenced with an Arati dedicated to Their Lordships Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga (Sri Nityananda Prabhu and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu).

This was followed by an elaborate abhishekam, during which the deities were ceremoniously bathed with sacred items including milk, curd, ghee, honey, jaggery water, fruit juices, and the holy waters of seven sacred rivers drawn from 108 kalashas.

The ritual was accompanied by a special Arati set to the devotional Gaura Arati song, followed by offerings of 56 varieties of food.

A beautifully decorated pallaki carrying the deities was then taken on a processional journey within the temple grounds, accompanied by enthusiastic devotees performing Sankirtana.

The air resonated with the joyful chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra and the rhythmic sounds of traditional musical instruments.

As the procession advanced, the Holi celebrations began in full swing. Devotees showered the deities and one another with vibrant colored flowers, while dancing and singing in ecstatic devotion.

The sky was filled with hues of multiple shades, creating a spectacular and joyous ambiance for all participants.

The festivities concluded with a sumptuous prasadam feast, served to all devotees present, marking the culmination of a spiritually uplifting and vibrant celebration.
