Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, while addressing a two-day Collector-SP conference at New-Circuit House today, said that the district administration and police are doing a commendable job but there is always a scope for improvement in many places to strengthen the law and order of the state.
He further said that there should be better coordination between the administration and the police.
To maintain peace and order in the state, all officers should work cautiously with utmost dedication.
The police should strengthen their information system and prevent crimes before hand.
Many incidents have been solved by the police in a short span of time, this has created a good image of the state in terms of safety and crime prevention.
He said that there is a need to strictly curb knife pelting, betting, illicit liquor and online gambling.
He also said that more focus should be on basic policing and there should be an immediate answer to the rumors in social media.
There should be constant communication between the police, the administration, media, public representatives and the public.
The presence of the police should be visible at the chowk intersections,there is a need to take concrete and effective steps to prevent road accidents.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrata Sahu, all the Divisional Commissioners of the State, Additional Director General of Police, IG, Collector, Superintendent of Police were present in the meeting.
Expedite the investigation of chit fund cases
The Chief Minister said in the conference that the directors of the chit fund company, who have not been arrested, should be taken in Custody .
So far, the proceedings of attachment of property have taken place in some cases only.
Expressing displeasure in this regard, the Chief Minister directed to take rapid action against the chit fund companies.
He said that in the remaining cases also, the property should be identified and attachment proceedings should be done and maximum amount should be returned to the investors.
The Chief Minister also directed to take prompt action to expedite the return of cases registered against tribals.
Bust the drug trafficking network
The Chief Minister said that adequate security should be provided for the completion of development works in Naxal areas. Security should be taken care of during the VIP tour in these areas.
He also directed to completely put an end to the tendency of consuming illicit drugs like intoxicating pills, injections, syrups and take strict action against the vendors.
He also instructed to curb the transport and sale of cannabis by strengthening the checkposts in the border districts.
The Chief Minister said that the police should take strict action to root out the network of drug trafficking by making necessary coordination with other states at every level.
He also stressed on the need to strengthen drug de-addiction centers along with curbing the drug smuggling .
PCR vehicles to soon start patrolling to prevent crimes against women.
The Chief Minister said that police officers should spend more time in the field, increase contact with people and work on the concept of visible policing.
He also advised the SP to join this night patrol to create a safe environment for women and girls.
He also instructed to conduct the ‘Humar Beti, Humar Maan’ campaign effectively. He directed to start the PCR vehicles at the earliest to check crime against women. Incidents of cyber fraud are increasing continuously, to avoid this, the Chief Minister instructed to conduct regular awareness programs.
As Paddy procurement is about to start,he also said that a concrete action plan should be made to check illegal transportation of paddy from neighboring states. In crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, assistance should be provided to the victim at the earliest.

The Chief Minister, while reviewing the development works in the Naxal-affected areas, said that for the safety of the villagers, camps are being set up in these areas, besides providing education, health, electricity facilities to the villagers as well as connecting people with employment.
To end the Naxal problem in Bastar, there is a need to encourage employment-oriented works as well.
Many important road constructions have been completed in Naxal affected areas, due to which the pace of development has increased there.
Development work in interior areas has become possible due to increased connectivity with road construction.
The Chief Minister directed for speedy installation of mobile towers in the inner Naxal affected areas.
Officials said that 525 mobile towers are being converted into 4G in remote Naxal-affected areas and most of the areas have been connected with mobile connectivity.
The Chief Minister further said that adequate security should be provided for the completion of the development works in Naxal areas. Security should also be taken care of during the VIP tour in Naxal affected areas.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain said that Collector and SP should work with better coordination.
This coordination should also be visible at the lower administration level. SOP should be prepared for quick action at the time of accident.
During the conference, Director General of Police informed that Raipur Superintendent of Police, Prashant Agrawal, has been given the responsibility for effective control over law and order and action against chit fund companies and narcotics and Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon Santosh Singh has been given the responsibilty for the work of community policing and Superintendent Police, Sukma, Sunil Sharma for the anti-Naxal operation were praised for their respective works in the districts and Sukma, was identified as the best district in the respective area.
Similarly, the ranking of police stations in the state according to the points of crime control, redressal of criminal cases, protection of women, children and persons belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, services provided by police stations, control of accidents, community policing, innovation was evaluated in which the police station of Kotwali, Raigarh was identified as the best urban police station and Patan police station of district Durg as the best rural police station.
While the police station of Kohkameta, district Narayanpur was identified for the best work in anti-Naxal movement.
