Tasar Worm rearing became a means of livelihood…

Constant efforts are being made by the ‘Gram Udyog’ Department to improve the socio-economic conditions of the rural populace by connecting them with livelihood through various schemes.

‘Tasar Krimi Palan Yojana’, run by the Silk Division of the Gram Udyog department has become a means of livelihood for numerous rural families of the state who are earning additional income through silk production.  

Villagers of the Bijapur district have also started getting livelihood by joining the ‘tasar krimi palan yojna’.

As many as 148 beneficiaries are getting benefited from rearing of tasar food plants available in the district.

Through this scheme,the reared daba cocoons are being produced from the food plants available in the forest blocks and the government tasar centers.

Due to which self-employment is being generated for the farmers of the area.

Against the target of 86,100 healthy egg batches for the year 2022-23, a total of 33,305 healthy egg batches have already been prepared by this district in the first and second crop and Kosa production is in progress currently.

Similarly, in the financial year 2022-23, 2442 human-days of employment have been created due to tasar food plant maintenance and worm rearing work, in which 148 beneficiaries have been benefitted.

Tasar has become a significant means of getting supplementary employment for the people of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes living around ‘Vananchals’.

Their financial condition is significantly improving with the additional income by Silk production along with their regular work.
