10 Acres of land allotted to the laboratory by the State Government

The Regional Testing Laboratory to be the grandest lab in Central India

Raipur. Under the presiding of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, at an event in his residential office, an MOU was signed between the Chhattisgarh Government and the Central Power Research Institute Bengaluru for the establishment of a state-level laboratory and training center for the testing of electrical equipment in Naya Raipur.

The Secretary of the Department of Energy in Chhattisgarh Mr. Ankit Anand and the Additional Director of CPRI Mr. B.A. Sawale signed the MOU.

The Chief Minister congratulated the Department of Energy and the Central Power Research Institute on this occasion. The Regional Testing Laboratory set up in Naya Raipur by the Central Power Research Institute will be the grandest testing laboratory in Central India where the routine testing of the transformer, meter testing, oil testing, and other electrical equipment will be done.

At present, electrical equipment is sent to Bhopal for testing. The provision of testing in Chhattisgarh will result in saving time and revenue. In this laboratory, electrical companies will be offered a concession of 20 percent on testing.

Under the laboratory, a training center will also be opened where the technical ability of the employees of electrical companies and private institutes will be enhanced.

For the construction of the laboratory and training center, 10 Acres of land have been allotted in Layer – 2 Tendua Village, Sector 30 in Naya Raipur by the Atal Nagar Naya Raipur Development Authority.

The construction of the laboratory will be completed in 36 months for Rs. 20 crores 70 lakh. The Regional Testing Laboratory to be established in Naya Raipur will have facilities like High Voltage Laboratory (Impulse Test 400 kV),

Routine Test Laboratory for Transformer (up to 10 MVA), Temperature Rise Test Facility for Transformer (up to 10 MVA), Energy Meter Test Laboratory for Smart Meter and Cyber Security Test Laboratory for Substation Equipments and Smart Meter.

Central Power Research Institute is a public enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. In this institute, consultation services for ensuring the quality of utility, encouraging applied research in the power sector, and improving the reliability in the field of engineering are provided. 

On this occasion, the Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission Mr. Hemant Verma, CEO of CREDA Mr. Alok Katiyar, MD of CSPTCL Mrs. Ujjwala Baghel, MD of CSPDCL Mr. Manoj Khare, and the Joint Director of CPRI Mr. Abhay Khairwar were also present.
