NHAI imposes ₹10 lakh penalty on agency for lapses in post-accident response…

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has imposed a ₹10 lakh penalty on M/s Ravindra Singh over lapses in accident management on the Katghora–Ambikapur stretch of National Highway 130.

The penalty was imposed following a collision between two truck-trailers near the Chotiya toll plaza at around 3 am on October 12, after which delays in clearing the damaged vehicles disrupted traffic on the highway.

An inquiry into the incident found that the agency’s project manager was not present at the site. The response was further delayed by the unavailability of a crane operator and inadequate fuel for recovery equipment. Despite repeated alerts through the 1033 helpline, the required assistance did not reach the site in time.

Citing these shortcomings as a breach of prescribed norms for incident management and highway patrolling, NHAI has levied a penalty of ₹10 lakh on the agency.
