Directs highway patrol vehicle to spot late at night, reviews rescue operations and inspections
Calls for prompt removal of cattle from road to prevent accidents and ensure their safety
Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Shri Vijay Sharma expressed displeasure after spotting cattle on the Kawardha-Bemetara road and directed officials to ensure regular highway patrolling and prompt removal of stray cattle to safe locations.
Shri Sharma stopped his vehicle near the Bemetara toll plaza late Tuesday night while travelling to Kawardha after noticing cattle on the road. He contacted departmental officials over the phone and sought details of the highway patrolling arrangements.
He asked officials about regular inspections being carried out by the highway patrol vehicle in accordance with decisions taken at a meeting of the Road Safety Committee. After being informed that inspections were being conducted, Shri Sharma directed the patrol vehicle to reach the spot and sought details of cattle rescue operations carried out so far, as well as the daily inspections and other activities undertaken by the team.
He also asked officials to obtain regular feedback from local residents in villages along the Kawardha-Bemetara route on the activities of the patrol vehicle.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the presence of cattle on the highway posed a risk to both the animals and motorists, particularly at night when poor visibility increases the likelihood of accidents. He directed the patrolling team to continuously monitor the route and promptly move cattle found on the road to safe locations.
He warned that negligence in ensuring road safety and protecting cattle would invite strict action against the officials concerned and directed authorities to strengthen the patrolling system and ensure regular monitoring.
