Chief Minister Shri Sai Participates in Kanwar Yatra During Holy Month of Shravan
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the Kanwar Yatra organised at the Maruti Mangalam premises in Gudhiyari on August 23.
He performed Rudrabhishek and offered prayers to Bhagwan Shiva as per traditional rituals, praying for the happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being of Chhattisgarh and its people.
He also extended greetings to the Shiva devotees participating in the Yatra during the holy month of Shravan.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Shravan holds special significance for the worship of Bhagwan Shiva and that the Kanwar Yatra is a unique expression of faith, devotion and dedication.
Thousands of devotees undertake the journey on foot carrying sacred water for the Abhishek of Bhagwan Shiva, reflecting the deep-rooted faith and spiritual traditions of Sanatan culture.
Thousands of Kanwariyas set out from the Maruti Mangalam premises carrying sacred water for the Jalabhishek of Bhagwan Hatkeshwarnath Mahadev at Mahadev Ghat.
The chants and devotion of the Shiva devotees filled the atmosphere with spiritual fervour. The Chief Minister said that the Kanwar Yatra is not merely a religious pilgrimage but also a celebration of culture, tradition and social unity.
Highlighting the historical and religious significance of Hatkeshwarnath Mahadev Temple, Shri Sai said it is a prominent centre of Chhattisgarh’s ancient tradition of Shiva worship and holds deep significance for devotees. During Shravan, a large number of devotees visit the temple to perform Jalabhishek and offer prayers.
The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is known for its natural beauty, folk culture, and rich spiritual heritage. Ancient Shiva temples and Shakti Peethas across the state reflect its deep-rooted religious traditions. Festivals and pilgrimages help preserve this heritage and connect younger generations with cultural and spiritual values.
He said events such as the Kanwar Yatra also bring together people from different sections of society, strengthening mutual harmony, social unity and the spirit of collective participation. Preserving and promoting this religious and cultural heritage, he said, is a shared responsibility.
Shri Sai said the State Government is working to develop major religious and spiritual sites and provide better facilities for devotees. These efforts are strengthening centres of faith while also creating new opportunities for religious tourism in Chhattisgarh.
Extending his greetings to all Shiva devotees, the Chief Minister prayed to Bhagwan Mahadev for the continued progress and prosperity of Chhattisgarh and the happiness and well-being of every family.

Meenal Choubey, chairpersons of various boards and corporations, distinguished citizens, representatives of social organisations and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
