Government is constantly making efforts to put Chhattisgarh on the World Tourism Map: Chief Minister.

Chief Minister attended the Tourism Conclave 2022 organized on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

“Chhattisgarh was once known for Naxalism, minerals, and underdevelopment. Tourism here remained neglected for a long time and even after the formation of a new state, the entire focus was only on the Naxal menace.

However, Chhattisgarh which is blessed with splendid natural beauty has immense tourism potential and is one of the best destinations for travel aficionados.

The state government is constantly making its best efforts to make Chhattisgarh a first choice of travel enthusiasts”, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. 

He was addressing the Tourism Conclave 2022 organized in Raipur on the occasion of World Tourism Day today.

Making a major announcement in the direction of promoting tourism in the state, Baghel announced to give tourism-related training to the members of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Mitan Club’. “Engaging youth in the tourism sector will help to boost tourism in the state”, he said. 

Speaking about the uniqueness of the state’s rich culture and history, Baghel said “Chhattisgarh is such a state without which even the great Indian epic Ramayana will remain incomplete.

Lord Ram spent most of his exile period in Chhattisgarh and this is where his mother Kaushalya used to reside.

Chhattisgarh is the only state in the whole world where there is a provision to punish even the deities. This is why it is the need of the hour to tell the whole about the glorious culture, history, and tradition of the state.”

He added that Chhattisgarh has immense tourism potential. The state government made untiring efforts even during the Covid-19 pandemic period to tap into the tourism potential of the state.

This includes the development of accessible tourist destinations and improving guest facilities keeping in view the convenience of tourists.

He stressed the need to put Chhattisgarh on the World Tourism Map stating that the state has all resources which just need to be utilized appropriately. 

Tourism Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said in his address the state government is constantly working towards promoting tourism in the state.

Even during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tribal tourism circuit was developed and the work of the Ram Van Gaman tourism circuit was started. Accepting the suggestion of Parliamentary Secretary Chintamani Singh, Sahu announced to give special emphasis on developing Gaurlata–the highest peak of the state–as a popular tourist spot. 

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board President Atal Srivastava said that we need to focus on youth tourism as well. Efforts are being made by the tourism board to promote agro-tourism in Chhattisgarh so that people can connect with villages and farmers.

Parliamentary Secretary Chintamani Singh, State Text Book Corporation Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, CMDC Chairman Girish Dewangan, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Vice-Chairman Smt. Chitralekha Sahu, Tourism Secretary Anbalagan P, and Tourism Department MD Anil Sahu were also present on the occasion.
