Medicity to expand opportunities in super-speciality healthcare, pharmaceutical industries, research and employment
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that Chhattisgarh is rapidly emerging as a major medical hub in central India. Alongside the expansion of healthcare infrastructure, the state is continuously promoting advanced medical technology, super-speciality services and medical education. The government’s objective is to ensure that every citizen has access to quality, affordable and accessible healthcare within the state, and that financial hardship does not become an obstacle to treatment.
The Chief Minister was addressing the bhoomipujan ceremony for a cancer treatment centre at Omega Medicine Hospital in Raipur on Sunday, marking a new initiative in advanced healthcare services. He congratulated the hospital management and the entire Omega Group team, saying that expanding modern facilities for treating serious illnesses such as cancer would further strengthen healthcare services in the state.
Shri Sai said that when a patient is diagnosed with a serious illness such as cancer, the entire family goes through a difficult period. Travelling to another state for treatment adds to the financial burden and creates several practical difficulties. The government’s effort is to minimise the need for people from Chhattisgarh to travel outside the state for treatment, even for serious illnesses, and enable them to access world-class medical facilities while staying close to their families.
He added that the proposed oncology centre at Omega Hospital would be an important step in this direction. The availability of specialist doctors and advanced medical technology would help provide better cancer treatment not only to patients from Chhattisgarh but also to those from neighbouring states.
Healthcare infrastructure being strengthened to build a healthy Chhattisgarh
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working towards building a healthy Chhattisgarh. The focus is on extending quality healthcare beyond major cities to villages, the poor and remote tribal regions.
He said healthcare infrastructure is being strengthened at every level, from primary and community health centres to district hospitals and medical colleges. Facilities such as intensive care units (ICUs), dialysis units, modern pathology laboratories and other essential medical services are being expanded in district hospitals. This will help patients avoid unnecessary travel to major cities for routine tests and treatment.
The Chief Minister said the government is working to decentralise healthcare services. Efforts are underway to reduce the gap in medical facilities between rural and urban areas and ensure that quality healthcare reached the last person.
Government stands by families facing serious illnesses
Chief Minister Shri Sai said serious illnesses are not merely a health challenge but can also push families into financial distress. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, brings relief to lakhs of families worried about the cost of treatment. A large number of private hospitals, alongside government hospitals, are covered under the scheme, enabling eligible families to access cashless treatment as per its provisions.
He said the state government is also extending assistance to families facing serious illnesses through the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. The government’s clear commitment is to ensure that no poor person is denied treatment due to a lack of money and that no family is forced to sell its land, house or jewellery to pay for medical care.
Healthcare network reaches Abujhmad and remote forest regions
Chief Minister Shri Sai said the transformation in healthcare is not limited to Raipur or other major cities. Expanding access to medical services in remote and tribal areas, including Abujhmad, is also a priority for the government. Healthcare services are steadily expanding in areas where access to basic facilities has traditionally been limited. Health camps in forest regions are helping provide medical examinations and treatment to rural residents. Continuous efforts are also being made to strengthen maternal and child healthcare and improve the availability of doctors, medicines and essential diagnostic facilities.
The Chief Minister said the goal is to develop a healthcare system that provides quality medical services according to people’s needs, from remote villages in Bastar to the state capital, Raipur.
200-acre Medicity and Pharma Park in Nava Raipur to open new avenues
Chief Minister Shri Sai said a modern Medicity and Pharma Park is being developed across approximately 200 acres in Nava Raipur to position Chhattisgarh among the country’s leading destinations for healthcare and medical investment. The project is expected to play an important role in transforming the state’s healthcare sector in the coming years.
He said the Medicity and Pharma Park will create a strong ecosystem for super-speciality healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, medical research and advanced health technologies. It will also generate new employment opportunities for the state’s youth, including doctors, nursing professionals and paramedical staff.
The Chief Minister said super-speciality and multispeciality healthcare facilities are steadily expanding in Raipur and Nava Raipur. New investments and modern healthcare units are also strengthening Chhattisgarh’s potential for medical tourism.
The government’s aim is to establish Chhattisgarh as a major centre for quality, modern medical services, serving not only its own residents but also people from neighbouring states.
Private investment to expand healthcare facilities and employment opportunities
Chief Minister Shri Sai said the Omega Group’s expansion of healthcare services in Raipur reflected Chhattisgarh’s growing potential as a destination for investment in the medical sector. The state government is encouraging private investment and public-private partnerships to strengthen healthcare services.
He said coordinated efforts by the government and the private sector can accelerate the development of modern healthcare infrastructure. New hospitals and super-speciality centres will improve access to treatment while creating employment opportunities for doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and other young professionals.
Shri Sai said healthy citizens are the foundation of a prosperous state. The government is therefore working not only to expand treatment facilities but also to make healthcare more accessible, modern and people-oriented.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no citizen of Chhattisgarh is left helpless when faced with a serious illness. The government, he said, stands firmly with everyone in need.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh is steadily moving towards self-reliance in healthcare. Healthcare infrastructure and modern medical facilities are expanding across the state, directly benefiting its people. He said the private sector’s expansion of advanced medical services would further strengthen the state’s healthcare system.
Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said the state government is continuously working to improve healthcare facilities from villages to cities. Alongside strengthening healthcare infrastructure, efforts are being made to expand access to modern medical services. He congratulated the hospital management and its entire team on the initiative to establish the cancer treatment centre.
MLA Shri Motilal Sahu, Raipur Mayor Smt Meenal Choubey, Medicine Hospital Director Shri Sushil Sharma, CEO of Omega Group, other public representatives, doctors and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.
