Raipur. On the occasion of Sports Day, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute to the hockey magician Major Dhyanchand by garlanding his portrait.
Remembering his contribution to the sports sector, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that Major Dhyanchand glorified the name of the country with his excellent performance in the field of hockey.
His career is believed to be the golden era of hockey in India. Dhyanchand had an amazing skill to score in the hockey field, which is why he was known as the ‘Hockey Magician’.
With him in the team, India won gold medals in the Olympics of 1928, 1932 and 1936. He is an inspiration to the upcoming hockey players and sportspersons. To honour his contribution to the field of hockey, Major Dhyanchand’s birth day is celebrated as Sports Day.
