International and national-level agricultural institutions, scientists, entrepreneurs, and farmers to attend the event.
Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, is going to host the International Agriculture Expo “Agri Carnival 2022” from October 14 to 18.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will grace the mega event on October 16 and going to address a farmers’ convention to be held at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University campus.
Directors of international and national level agricultural institutions, agricultural scientists, senior officials of various agricultural product manufacturing companies, startup entrepreneurs, and progressive farmers are expected to attend the event.
An International Agriculture Fair-cum-Exhibition will be held at the event and farmers, students, and the common public will be taken to visit crops grown in the research area of the university.
It will be organised by Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department, Chhattisgarh Biotechnology Promotion Society, International Rice Research Institute, Philippines, NABARD, Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research, Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), NABL and other institutions.
The inauguration ceremony will be chaired by Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant on October 14 and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey will preside over the event.
Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey as Chief guest will grace the closing ceremony on October 18. It will be presided over by Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey.
Buyer-Seller meet to be held to promote farm products export
Various programs to be held during the five-day Argi Carnival, including a buyer-seller meet to increase the export of agricultural products, a workshop on “innovation, entrepreneurship, and startups”, a seminar on processing and export of minor forest produce, a training workshop for biodiversity conservation and registration of new plant varieties by farmers and plant breeders, workshop by NABL for accreditation of testing laboratories, and crop breeding modernization and digitization are other topics that will be discussed at the event.
Experts and scientists will discuss and provide information on various topics including new varieties of crops, alternative crops for more income, new farming technology, natural and organic farming, biofertilizers and biopesticides, animal husbandry, fish farming and fodder production, integrated crop, nutrients and pest, and disease management, soil fertility and soil health, rainwater management, and groundwater enrichment, protected agriculture, advanced agriculture machinery processing, and value addition.
During this, the successful entrepreneurs of agro-based startups will also guide the youth to set up new startups. About 20 thousand farmers are expected to attend the International Agri Carnival.
A “Buyer-Seller meet cum Workshop” will be held on October 14 i.e. on the first day from 10 am. T
he APEDA will organise the workshop and provide information regarding the quality control, norms, and rules to promote the export of agricultural and horticultural food items from Chhattisgarh.
About 500 farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, and experts of APEDA are expected to attend the workshop. The Chairman of APEDA, farmers’ representatives, and representatives of industries will attend the workshop as the chief guest.
Workshop to be held on “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Startups”
The Biotechnology Department of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University will celebrate its “Silver Jubilee” on October 15 i.e. on the second day of the event from 9 am.
They will organise a workshop, and discussions will be held between teachers, students, and entrepreneurs of Biotechnology. They will also discuss the new research in the field of Biotechnology and employment and self-employment possibilities in the field of Biotechnology.
More than 125 students and scientists are expected to attend the workshop. Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, and scientists of Biotechnology will attend the workshop as the chief guest.
Workshop on “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Startups” will be held from 11 am.
The workshop will be held to provide information to youths about innovation, which will act as a bridge between startups and investors.
They will also provide information regarding loans and investments from banks and other institutions. About 400 young entrepreneurs, startups, and young progressive farmers associated with agriculture are expected to attend the workshop. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Industries and Commerce Minister Kawasi Lakhma, and other experts will attend the workshop as chief guests.
*Workshop to be held on “Collection, Conservation, Processing and Export of Minor Forest Produce”*
Workshop on “Collection, Conservation, Processing and Export of Minor Forest Produce” will be held on October 16 i.e. on the third day from 11 am.
The workshop will be held to provide information to farmers and exporters regarding quality control, quality standards, and rules and regulation for the marketing and export of Minor Forest Produce. More than 125 Exporters of minor forest produce and officials of both APEDA and the Forest Department are expected to attend the workshop.
Officials of the Forest Department and Minor Forest Produce Federation will attend the workshop as chief guests.
*Workshop to be held on “Biodiversity Conservation”
Workshop on “Biodiversity Conservation and Registration of Plant Breeders” will be held on October 17 i.e. on the fourth day from 11 am. The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority of the Government of India will organize a workshop to create awareness among the farmers about the conservation of biodiversity.
They will also provide information regarding the registration of new plant varieties under the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority by farmers and plant breeders. More than 125 farmers are expected to attend the workshop. On this occasion, P.P.V.F.R.A. officials and scientists will attend the workshop as chief guests.
Workshop to be held on “Laboratory Accreditation
Workshop on “Laboratories Accreditation” will be held on 18th October 2022 at 11 am on the last day of Agri Carnival by NABL.
They will provide necessary information to the government and private institutions regarding the accreditation process. Representatives of about 300 government and private laboratories are expected to attend the workshop. State’s A.A.B.L. officials will attend the workshop as the Chief Guests.
