Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday inaugurated the tamarind processing plant established in Dhuragaon of Lohandiguda development block falling under Bastar district. 

CM Baghel inspected the processing plant and took information regarding the operation and capacity of the unit and the required human resources.

Expressing happiness over the establishment of this processing unit, he said that this will expand the scope of investment in the industrial sector here.

He said that processing of local forest produce and agricultural produce is necessary here for employment generation and the establishment of this plant is a major achievement in this direction.

Plant operator Karthik Kapoor said that this plant has the capacity to manufacture 10 metric tonnes of tamarind pulp, 5 metric tonnes of tamarind chapati, and 3 metric tonnes of tamarind seed powder per day.

Spread over an area of 2 acres, the plant is well-equipped with all the necessary machinery and modern facilities.

The plant also has a food laboratory. Strict adherence to all the norms of FSSAI will be ensured here.

The plant is fully automatic with a manual mode operation option as well for power backup and to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing.

Industries and District in-charge Minister Kawasi Lakhma, MP Deepak Baij, Handicrafts Development Board Chairman Chandan Kashyap, MLA Rajman Benzam, Chief Conservator of Forests Mohammad Shahid, Collector Chandan Kumar along with public representatives were present on the occasion.
