Pink toilets will be constructed for women at major intersections of the city
Opening the doors to development and boost Durg city’s infrastructure and economy, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday announced the approval of several projects in the Bhumi Poojan program organized in ward three Mathpara of Durg city.
These projects ranges from road construct to construction of multi-level parking in Indira Market of Durg, road widening from Science College to Railway Station Canal Road, road widening from Chandi Mandir to Naya Para Chowk.
Under the category of public health and hygiene, ‘pink toilets’ will be developed for women at major intersections of the city. The Chief Minister made these announcements on the demand of the MP and the local MLA.
In the program, the Chief Minister performed the Bhoomi Pujan of various development works costing Rs 22.97 crore under the Durg Municipal Corporation area.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is determined to develop villages as well as cities. “By trusting the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the general public gave us a chance to form the government. I have come to thank the people for the blessings they have given us,” said Shri Sai.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that if we look at the last 9 months, the state government has performed a remarkable work in a short time for farmers, women and youth. He said that 18 lakh houses will be constructed for needy families under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
Keeping in mind women empowerment, under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, about 70 lakh women are being provided financial assistance of Rs 12,000 annually at the rate of Rs 1000 per month. The Tendu leaf collection rate has been increased from Rs 4000 per standard sack to Rs 5500 per standard sack. The people of the state are being taken on the Ayodhya Dham Yatra under the Ramlala Darshan Yojana. The program was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao. MP Shri Vijay Baghel, MLA Shri Gajendra Yadav and MLA Shri Rakesh Sen were present in the program as special guests.
While presiding over the program Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that it was a long awaited moment. There will be no shortage of money for the development of cities in the state. Around 167 works worth Rs 43.67 crore have already been approved. He congratulated and wished the people of Durg for the upcoming development works in the city. He said that since the government was formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, all the works are being done swiftly. Funds are being released for urban development works under the leadership of the government. With the motto of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, plans are being made and implemented without any discrimination. Continuous work is being done in this direction to make our state clean and beautiful.
Appreciating the occasion of Bhumi Poojan and announcement of development works, MP Shri Vijay Baghel said, “Shri Sai government is continuously doing development work in Chhattisgarh. We feel overwhelmed while praising him and I am grateful that he approved our demand of the construction of auditorium in Durg and Bhilai Nagar and Pink toilets for women.”
Local MLA Shri Gajendra Yadav presented the outline of the development of the city in his welcome address. He also drew the attention of the Chief Minister towards the construction of multi-level parking in Indira Market and canal road behind Science College. He congratulated and wished the citizens for the groundbreaking ceremony of the development works.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated various development works worth about Rs 23 crore in Durg city area. These works include development work of sports ground in Urla costing Rs 1.98 crore, development work in Rajendra Park Chowk for road safety costing Rs 88.47 lakh, tree plantation work in various places costing Rs 1.66 crore, concrete pavement at eight places and paver block at one place in various wards costing Rs 1.35 crore, construction of community building- Ambedkar Sarva Samaj Manglik Bhawan worth Rs 1.99 crore in Gaya Nagar near 33 KV Power Station, construction of cultural building worth Rs 49 lakh in ward 15 behind Satnam Bhawan Ayurvedic Hospital, total 59 works of road, drain culvert construction in various wards of the city costing Rs 8.33 crore, water supply in ward number 32 Shikshak Nagar costing Rs 2.72 crore, installation of the statue of Lord Birsa Munda at Rajendra Park Chowk costing Rs 25 lakh, additional hall construction work on the first floor of Gondwana Bhawan costing Rs 50 lakh, various development works under MLA fund costing Rs 2.14 crore and Bhoomi Pujan of various development works under Minister in charge fund costing Rs 65 lakh are included.
