Solar pump installed in the farmlands of 14 tribal families
Gaurela Pendra Marwahi, 08 December 2022/In a bid to provide adequate irrigation facility for farming, solar power pumps have been installed in the inaccesible areas in the newly formed Gaurela Pendra Marwahi district.
Solar pumps are being set up by the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) under the Saur Sujala scheme.
It is noteworthy that more than 800 solar pumps have been installed in the district so far.
These include solar pumps installed in Gauthans and pastures under the Suraji Gram yojna.
Apart from this, solar pumps have also been installed in the homes of 14 tribal families under Saur Sujala Yojana by CREDA with the beneficiary contribution amount issued for solar pumps by Integrated Tribal Development Project.
Earlier, the farmers of the district were unable to pursue farming with full efficiency despite having arable land due to lack of electricity for irrigation, but with solar pumps installed, adequate water for irrigation is available and they are flawlessly pursuing farming.
This has also improved their income significantly. Due to dependence on rain water for irrigation, earlier they were only able to cultivate paddy, but due to the installation of solar pumps in their fields, now they are cultivating paddy as well as vegetables, mustard, wheat etc.
With the diversification of crop cultivation in the region,continuous socio- economic improvement is being seen in the lives of these tribal families.
